In September of 2008, Teena Brown lost her mother, Clarice, to Acute Leukemia. As she prepared for chemotherapy treatments, she was told she would lose her hair. They were referred to the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation in Fort Smith, AR. for assistance with wigs, etc. Teena made a promise to her mother that she would work on providing services similar to this facility in Mena for cancer patients. Unfortunately, her mother didn't live to see this happen, but her memory lives on in Teena, and Clarice's passion will help her see it through. Teena Brown has been a licensed cosmetologist for 31 years and offers one-on-one attention to those in need of a variety of services and care as they deal with the complications of their illnesses.
Clarice's motto is "To inspire, encourage, and restore hope for persons affected by cancer and hair loss disorder."
Clarice's Room of Hope has provided over 85 cranial prosthetics free of charge since the start of the foundation. They provide a comfortable setting for custom fittings with a professional cranial prosthesis specialist.
In addition to assisting adults, Clarice's Room of Hope can accept hair as a way to help kids with hair loss receive a wig free of charge. Donations of ponytails are accepted any time and sent to a Ponytail Kids Club where human hair wigs are created for children.
Join Teena Brown at Clarice's Room of Hope for a glamorous, "girly" experience as you are fitted for a breast prosthesis. You will be greeted with a smile and gentle touch with an atmosphere of elegance and sophistication.
Donations can currently be made online at www.claricesroom.org. 100% of the proceeds stay local!
In 2014 we were able to raise $1,000.00 for Clarice's Room of Hope by challenging our patients and friends with a "Pie in the Face" Contest. Patients and friends were able to vote for who they wanted to see get the pie in the face. Of course, Dr. Marosy won by a landslide!!! It was a lot of fun and a great way to raise money for such a great cause.
